How much does a burial insurance policy cost?

Your burial or final expense insurance premium payments will be determined by various factors. These factors include your age, your current health and any medical conditions you may have, your sex, your location, and the type of insurance policy you purchase as well as the company that sells it to you. If you are toward the low end of the age spectrum (usually 40 to 85 for burial insurance policies), you will pay lower premiums. Most insurance companies don’t offer burial coverage to individuals over the age of 85. You will also pay lower premiums if you are in relatively good health for your age and do not suffer from any medical conditions. On the other hand, if you are older and/or you smoke or drink, you will pay higher premiums. Similarly, you may pay higher premiums if you have heart disease (or even a history of it in your family).

How long does a burial insurance policy last?

Your burial or final expense insurance coverage will last until you die. Your specified beneficiary will be paid the cash amount described in your policy upon your death. Burial and final expense policies do not expire. They also may not be canceled for any reason other than fraud on the part of the issuing insurance company or your refusal to pay your premiums.
