It offers a range of whole life plans called New Vantage that are expressly designed for final expenses and burial purposes. The company does not require medical examinations. It also offers a 20-day trial period during which policyholders are entitled to a full refund of all payments if they are not satisfied for any reason.
What is burial insurance?
Burial insurance, sometimes called final expense or funeral insurance, is a type of life insurance that pays a pre-set amount to a beneficiary when the policyholder dies. Burial insurance is usually less expensive than regular life insurance. Burial insurance is also usually much easier to qualify for than regular life insurance. Burial or final expense insurance is intended to meet the costs of funeral services and related products.
Why is burial insurance necessary?
Burial insurance may be necessary if you don’t have any savings or cash set aside to pay for your funeral or other end-of-life costs. Your surviving loved ones will have to pay for any funeral or cremation services and they will be responsible for any debts incurred during your burial. It’s a good idea to leave your loved ones a burial or final expense payout to help them cover these costs. Burial insurance may also be used as an alternative to traditional life insurance if you have been rejected for any reason.
How much burial insurance is necessary?
Burials currently cost around $10,000. Most burial insurance policies are designed for this amount. Higher payouts are available, but they will feature higher monthly premium requirements. Policies with higher payouts may also have stricter application rules related to your health and health history. If you plan to have a modest burial service, a $10,000 policy should cover most, if not all, of your family’s expenses.
